READ ME – NO FREE PLUGS …unless its, well um FREE

If you post a comment and it has a link back to YOUR site I will remove the link, Why you ask? Well its quite simple, because my website is not to be used as a stepping stone to help improve your site rankings. I don't do it on other sites and would appreciate it if you do not do it on mine. There are exceptions to this rule however If your site is 100% non-profit free ...

DavidOrlo.com Battle Plan – WordPress vs. CMS

Wordpress

New theme, New theme, New theme, I just cant make up my mind on a temporary theme. I plan to make my own theme based on several themes that I like but in the meantime I need something to run on the site that will be similar to my custom made theme so the content doesn't look out of place once it is built. In addition to the theme dilemma I have another issue which is ...

AutoIT coming to DavidOrlo.com

AutoIT

I love the AutoIT language as it is very easy to learn and extremely powerful. It seems every time I feel I have possibly outgrown the code and maybe I need to learn something else to do what I need to do, I am surprised with an update that allows AutoIT to do whatever it is I need to do. I started coding in the language back in 2003 before there was any GUI code. You ...

I just added a category for my beloved code AutoIT and my newest hobby / obsession the Arduino. To learn more about AutoIT and if your curious what to expect in the new section check out the category I created and specifically the article labled ...

Site layout changes and category changes

Pow

It seems nearly every week I am changing the layout of the categories and the website theme. It's hard finding a theme I like that still has the features I need. One of these features I simply can't live without is the sub-categories feature which not every theme offers. I really like the darker themes but I may end up sticking with the current iDream theme because it's simple yet includes all of the features ...

Site Upgrades

Wordpress

I upgraded to the latest WordPress version but first I had to convert the MySQL database from 4.0 to 5.0. Overall this was fairly simple. I had to create a new MySQL 5.0 database and export the current 4.0 database. I then imported the MySQL 4.0 database into the 5.0 database. I had to edit the configuration file for the website to point to the new database. If you look around you will see some stuff isn't quite right, ...

VM Shootout Posted / Incomplete

shootout

I posted the VM testing results on the whitebox but put the brakes on the project 3/4 of the way through because I want to retest using a piece of server class hardware. Although alot of people would like to know how well virtualization runs on a whitebox it was evident without even finising testing that using a setup running Windows XP 64 bit and VMware would yeild the best results. Maybe ESXi would be ...
